How can Investors Register a Complaint to SEBI? What is SCORES?

SCORES is an online platform designed to help investors to lodge their complaints, pertaining to the securities market, online with SEBI against listed companies and SEBI registered intermediaries. All complaints received by SEBI against listed companies and SEBI registered intermediaries are dealt through SCORES

SEBI Complaints Redress System ( SCORES) Scores is a centralized online complaint addressing system through which a complaint can be registered against any listed company on behalf of the shareholder. There are possibilities that the complaint answered by the company directly to the shareholder is not satisfactory to its shareholder, in such cases the shareholders have an option to escalate the complaint to take it up with the Securities and Exchange Board of India.

How to lodge a complaint?

Go to::SCORES::

If you are new, first of all you have to register, click on the Register here link and add the necessary details. Fill up personal details such as name, address, and contact.

After registering all your details login with your credentials and Click on Complaint Registration and select the category from the Categories section.

There are multiple categories of SEBI registered market participants against whom you can lodge a complaint, depending on your case, like Listed companies, Registrars, Transfer agents, Non-Demat and Remat, Brokers, Stock Exchanges, Depository, Depository Participants, Mutual Funds, Other Entities like Credit rating agencies, merchant bankers, debenture trustee, venture capital funds, KYC registration agency, Infrastructure Investment trusts, Real estate Investment trust, manipulation, Investment adviser, Research Analyst, etc. 

Once you select the appropriate category and proceed you will see the below page

You can fill in the necessary details and add supporting documents pertaining to your Complaint, and Click Submit Button. The above page may vary with the category selection. Once you Submit the Complaint you will receive an email with a unique registration number eg. SEBIE/GJ21/46114/D/1.

To support the complaint with documentary evidence, one can upload pdf documents up to 2MB in size.

It is advised that before approaching SEBI, write an email complaint to the Second Party who you find responsible for the issue you are facing, and get their response in written form like an official email or on company letter. If you find the response from the Second Party unacceptable then you can escalate the matter to SEBI for resolution.

Resolution

Sebi examines whether the complaint falls under its purview and then forwards the complaint to the concerned listed company advising them to send a written reply to the complainant and file an action taken report in SCORES.

Once the Complaint is submitted later you can check the details and response from SEBI from the View complaint status from the Investor corner section.

Put the registration number received and click on submit button. Once you click on submit you’ll be able to see the complaint details, Current Status, remarks, and full action history.

The same process can also be done with a mobile application SCORES. It is the mobile application designed by the securities and exchange board of India to lodge complaints by investors against listed companies.
